let’s set some D.O.P.E. goals!

#deardopechick: let’s set some DOPE GOALS!

Besides producing + selling dope merch, dear dope chick™ is a virtual community created to inspire + energize women to live life on their own terms. The best way to live life on your own terms is by setting D.O.P.E. goals.

D.O.P.E. goals include the following:

Declaration of Your Goal / Defined End Date

Is your goal crystal clear?

Objectives

Is this goal within your realm of possibility? If so, what smaller goals will you need to implement to get you to your end goal?

Plan of Action: A Checklist

Can you break down your goal into actionable steps?

Evaluation of Progress

Does your goal include how you assess your progress?

Our D.O.P.E. Goal Worksheet will help you keep stay on track with your goals while holding you accountable for your actions to achieve them. Print it out, grab your pen, and begin filling it out!

HOW DO I USE THIS WORKSHEET?

Below, we have broken down how to utilize each section of our worksheet.

Declare Your Goal

Goals should be specific. In this section, use clear, concise language to define your goal.

Example: I will lose 25 pounds.

Wanna do something super dope? Take that a step further and affirm your goal using an “I am” statement —

Example: I am losing 25 pounds.

Date of Goal Completion

All goals should have an end date. A great tip is to set goals in a timeframe of 90 days. Why? It allows us to create actionable steps without being overwhelmed by our lofty goals. It also allows for us to make revisions if necessary (i.e. life changes, situations come up, values shift, etc.).

If you happen to need more than 90 days to complete your goal, break your goal down into smaller goals that are attainable in 90 days. If your goals are shorter than 90 days, state that there and modify “Evaluation of Progress” accordingly.

Whatever you do, write a DATE here!

Example: 5/13/2022

Objectives

Think of objectives as the smaller goals that gets you to your overall goal. Use descriptive language here to describe how you will get to your end goal. Keep your goal in mind while writing in this section.

Example: I will lose 25 pounds in 90 days by doing the following: eating a more healthy, balanced diet, keeping a food journal, exercising 5 times a week, and ditching alcohol.

Plan of Action: A Checklist

This is where the action begins. This section serves as a very specific “to-do” list. Break down your objectives into actionable steps. The more specific these steps are, the less overwhelmed you will feel on each step. These steps are here to hold you accountable for your actions.

They require you to check on them often and check them off as you complete them.

Example: Objective: Eat a More Healthy, Balanced Diet

Plan of Action: Research Meal Portion Sizing, Throw out junk food, Purchase a Recipe Book, Buy Groceries Weekly + Meal Prep, etc.

Evaluation of Progress

This is the section to define where you’d like to be by the end of each month. Again, this is a place to hold yourself accountable! Some questions to ask yourself: where will you be by the end of each benchmark (month)? Where will your focus be? What would you like to prioritize? By the end of the benchmark, how will you know you were successful?

You could even give yourself something to look forward to – an incentive. “If I complete this, this and this, I will give myself this”. Maybe your gift to yourself could be new workout gear if your goal is to lose 25 pounds.

Example: By Day 30, I want to lose 10 pounds and have exercised a total of 20 times.

Possible incentive: New workout gear

LET’S GET TO WORK!

In whatever you decide, be sure to keep your current abilities in mind. Take steps that make sense with your current situation. If you want to run a marathon, but have never made it to a 5K, break down your goals to first achieve a mile, then a 5K, then a half, then a marathon, etc.

You can ALWAYS create smaller goals to get you to your big one.

Remember: It’s not about the quantity of steps it will take you to get there, it’s about the quality of life you are willing to live.

P.S. Don’t forget to circle off whether or not you completed your goal (dope = yes, nope = no).
