dear dope chick,
welcome + welcome back!

what you’ll need:
for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or have been rockin’ with me since day one —
dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every single episode you are challenged to take one small step that aligns with living life on your own terms.
that means you’re taking one step today that aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.
there’s always the choice
u have a choice. so the choice is to take a step, but you also have a choice to not take a choice.
that is your decision to make + i respect your decision.
however, i highly encourage you to take some action today.
it’s up to you
it is up to you + to no one else around you to decide what you want to do with your life, how you want to live it, which direction you want to go with it.
there will be those who will want to persuade you,
there will be others with anecdotes saying, “this worked for me”,
there will be others who give advice saying, “this is what you need to do” —
through all of that noise, i encourage you to listen to you.
listen to what it is that you want to do.
deep down inside in of your core, something is telling you “i wanna go this way. i don’t know about that way”.
listen to that.
you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that for yourself today.
let’s get to work!
so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.
have you heard our previous episodes?
not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?
we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.
you can listen to them here.
to do this week:
is you is or is you ain’t?
today’s action is to work through the discomforts of decision making.
every decision you perceive as “the right one” won’t be the easiest decision to make.
likewise, every decision you perceive as “the wrong one” won’t be the easiest decision to turn down.
what does your core want? what is your gut saying?
it’s likely not the quick fix.
there is a longing there, deep inside of you, to live with integrity; to make decisions that reflect who you are deep down inside.
allow yourself to connect deeply, to feel the discomfort + to move anyway.
feelings are temporary, they come + they go.
feel what you feel while remembering what’s the deal.
sitting with discomfort
when i first started meditating, it was painstakingly uncomfortable.
i had a hard time sitting still with my thoughts while my were eyes closed.
minutes felt like eternity.
i was drowning in my own thoughts + allowing the slightest discomfort dictate my practice.
i’d set a timer for 5 minutes + open my eyes to check how much more time i’d have left knowing damn well it wasn’t 5 minutes — the timer would have gone off if it was!
it wasn’t until i let go + completely surrendered to the process that i made headway.
the longer i resisted the discomfort, the longer my practice stayed stagnant + unfulfilling.
the moment i sat in my discomfort without bailing on myself is the moment i experienced for myself the dopeness in meditating.
my mindset shifted the clock from a “check the timer, i think it’s paused” 5 minutes to a “wait, it’s over already?!” 5 minutes.
progress won’t come until we address what is keeping us from moving forward; until we explore what is keeping us from embracing + fully surrendering to the process.
how do we progress unless we accept the progress?
we have to accept the process for what it is first, then we can choose how to move forward.
more than likely, the only way through it is to do it.
over the course of the week
over the course of the week, when issues arise, practice addressing those issues in a timely fashion.
stop putting it off!
prolonging the process doesn’t do anything but cause even more discomfort + unrest.
the fear you have is not in acting, it’s likely rooted in feeling regret for not choosing the “correct” option.
there is no right or wrong, no good or bad, so shake that.
get that out of your mind.
there are lessons + life is full of lessons.
what makes you feel like this experience is any different than a learning experience?
what we learn from our choices is life changing, valuable information.
this is the type of information we’ll need as we progress so let’s not skip this lesson.
we must ask ourselves:
will i continue living life in this fashion? if not, what will i change moving forward?
does this lifestyle choice align with + support the lifestyle i’ve visualized myself living? if not, what adjustments must i make to promote congruency with that lifestyle?
visualization exercise can be found here.
additionally, keep reciting those affirmations!
for 21 days straight we are reciting previously written affirmations.
continue reciting your affirmations this week.
check out the previous episode if you have not to get a jumpstart on this action step.

my final thoughts:
sit with your shit.
i’m not suggesting you waddle in it + stay there forever, but i am suggesting this:
acknowledge that it stanks.
accept that you’re uncomfortable with it + work your way through it.
have your decisions reflect what it is that you desire most.
decision making will become so much easiest when we realize that what’s causing us the most discomfort are our unresolved issues.
- why do you care what they think about the decisions you’re making? you know, the decisions that are best for your life — why do you care so much what they think about what you choose?
- why are you having a hard time saying “no”?
- you know the benefits of this choice. why are you doubting that it will work out for you?
- why are you having a hard time trusting the process?
- whose timeline is it anyway? why is there even a timeline? you have time.
question yourself.
question your motives.
get personal + invasive with yourself.
open up to yourself.
learn about who you are beyond the shallow, superficial façade you’ve been giving off + living in for all this time.
who are you?
there is so much more to you than what meets the eye.
who are you?
introduce yourself to that dope chick!
they are there patiently waiting to be rediscovered.
take the time to be uncomfortable.
feelings are fleeting —
the feeling that you’re feeling right now will not last forever.
it’s bound to change + that’s a good thing!
you are not stuck.
the joy, peace, + freedom in uncovering who you are at your core is what’s sustainable.
seek it.
[/mepr-show]
i appreciate you taking the time to read + listen!
thank you for showing up today.
thank you for being here.
thank you for giving yourself time to think, to act, to move through your own emotions, to question your own beliefs.
+ most importantly, i thank you for being you.
i’ll see you on the next episode. 👋🏾
be you, be dope!
