dear dope chick,

welcome + welcome back!

it’s been a minute + i’m grateful to be back with you today.

are you ready, today, to take some action?

what you’ll need:

for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or have been rockin’ with me since day one (i see you, thank you for being here) —

dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every single episode you are challenged to take one step that aligns with living life on your own terms.

that means you’re taking one step today, however small, big, or however you wanna categorize it, that aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.

be courageous.

taking a step today requires courage.

be courageous.

take the step that you know is necessary to propel you forward.

be courageous, be brave, + take the step that you know you must take!

regardless of how you feel today, be disciplined within yourself + disciplined in your own actions to take the step regardless of how you or anyone else feels about it today.

it’s up to you

you know what must be done + it is up to you to decide to do it.

i can’t force you,

yo mama + dem can’t force you,

your daddy + dem can’t force you —

no one can force you to do anything.

it is still by your will that things will be done today.

so what do you choose to do today?

what have you decided to do with your life?

what steps are you deciding to take for yourself?

you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that for yourself today one step at a time.

let’s get to work!

so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.

have you heard our previous episodes?

not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?

we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.

you can listen to them here.

speaking of steps, let’s talk about today’s action step:

  • this is a suggestion.
  • this is encouragement.
  • this is not a requirement.

i am putting this out here so that you can hear it + be inspired to do something that is pressing on your heart today.

to do this week:

today’s action is to give yourself some credit.

you are here today, physically anywayi invite you to also mentally, emotionally, + spiritually be here.

bring your whole self to the present moment.

you are safe + sound.

you have food.

you have shelter.

you have clothing.

those are all of the physical things that you have, but you know what you also have?

you have a choice.

you have the opportunity today to do something different.

you have not only survived life, you’ve thrived in situations + circumstances.

yes, of course you’ve had to struggle.

yes, of course you’ve had things not go the way you intended for them to go, but that doesn’t mean that you have not made a difference.

all you have is today

every challenge put before you, before this moment now, you have conquered to some degree — you’re here, ainnit?

you’re here to talk about it, right?

today you have the opportunity to celebrate another day of life, health, + strength.

even if your health isn’t the best of health, you have the opportunity today to change the trajectory of where you’re going

there are things you can do, actions that you can take, that may alter the course of your life.

today you have the opportunity to move forward in the direction of your desires.

today, you can still make a difference in your life + in the lives of others.

give yourself some credit for making it this far.

give yourself some credit for what you have done + move confidently in knowing you are doing the best you can do.

over the course of the week, extend grace to yourself + others as you navigate through life.

it isn’t without grace that you’ve made it this far.

+ well, maybe — maybe — you haven’t always acknowledged it for yourself or given it to yourself, or willfully extended it to others.

well, this week can be different.

today can be different.

starting today, you can offer grace to everyone you encounter, including yourself.

you can see how hard you’re trying.

you can see how hard they’re trying.

you can notice the efforts made by yourself + by others.

you can understand where they are coming from because you understand what you have overcome to get to where you are.

you see how hard you’ve worked to get where you are today, understand that others have gone through similar struggles to get to where they are, too.

they, too, have overcome so many things in their lives that we may know about or not.

regardless of how many times someone has shared their story, there are parts of them that you still do not know, details they may have omitted for their own reasons, that have bearings on why they are like they are.

you can connect with yourself on a deeper level.

acknowledging that you have only put forth your best effort + that your best is absolutely enough to get you by is where you start.

you are doing your best.

everyone you encounter is doing their best in that moment.

ours best looks different + has varied throughout your life, yet we’re still here, still standing by grace.

additionally, keep reciting those affirmations!

for 21 days straight we are reciting previously written affirmations.

continue reciting your affirmations this week.

check out the previous episode if you have not to get a jumpstart on this action step.

my final thoughts:

love without limits.

in times where anyone could have written you off, there was someone who didn’t.

there was someone who extended you grace, understanding, + compassion, someone who showed you what love without limits looks like.

maybe it was a teacher, your parent, God, your friend, a classmate or coworker, or even a complete stranger —

but someone offered grace.

be someone who offers grace.

let’s not allow it to be lost in us that we all have been were given a second chance to do something different.

maybe our initial way didn’t work out + that’s okay.

today is the gift that keeps on giving + today’s gift is that you can try again, fam.

you’ve done some spectacular things over the course of your years, one being the dope person that you are in any + all situations + circumstances.

you have shown up for yourself 100% of the time, maybe not in the ways that you wanted or most needed, but you were there in the ways you chose at the time + have overcome so many things in your life.

and like you, others have done some awesome, mind blowing, spectacular + dope things, too.

be a mirror.

see yourself in that person.

see your struggles in another.

see your successes in another.

see the effort in us all + remind yourself that we have all overcome something in our lives + that alone deserves some credit.
