for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or who have been rockin’ with me since day one (i see you, thank you for being here) —

you have a choice + your choices are powerful.

what do you want to see?

we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.
you can listen to them here.
speaking of steps, let’s talk about today’s action step:
- this is a suggestion.
- this is encouragement.
- this is not a requirement.
i am putting this out here so that you can hear it + be inspired to do something that is pressing on your heart today.
to do this week:
today’s action is to show us the ultimate disrespect.
the time is right + the moment is now.
it’s time for you to live your life in the most unapologetic way possible.
get disrespectful with your life today!
i’m talkin’ “take me as i am or have nothing at all“, Mary J type of nasty, fam.
just get nasty with it! 😝
disrespect is so subjective.
it’s a word usually used to keep people in check, to keep them within our own boundaries.
why our own boundaries, though?
because we don’t know how to allow others to live their life on their own terms when we’ve always been suppressed + told no.
if we haven’t been given that okay to live our lives how we see fit, we believe that others have to get in line + follow the same made up rules we’ve been following all our lives.
it’s hard for us to see other people living in a way where they don’t need our permission to live.
when you’ve always asked for permission + asked for approval, it’s hard to see someone out there not asking others for permission, not catering to the masses, + not minding stepping on toes + ruffling feathers while living their carefree life.
they aren’t concerned with what others think about them.
they are doing the work living their lives in a way that reflects what they want to see in their lives.
they want a life full of love + laughter, so you know what they are doing?
they’re laughing.
joking.
having a good time.
loving on people.
being joyful, kind, + compassionate.
it’s hard for some of us to see this type of behavior + think they aren’t fake + or receiving a “kickback”, but the “kickback” is they get to live their lives on their own terms.
for many of us, it’s transactional.
we have to follow certain steps, do things in a particular order, get the approval +/or the reciprocity first before we are able to let out hair down + fully be in the present moment for the sake of ourselves + others; to showcase the joy that we have.
fake ass rules we live by can include:
“don’t smile too much.”
“you’re not being humble enough”
“don’t laugh too much.
“people might take advantage of you!”
when you live in a way where you don’t feel like you’re losing anything by being yourself, you’re more open to being yourself.
why use disrespectful, though? why not use another word?
the word “disrespectful” has us looking at this in a negative light, but hear this + hear this well:
this disrespect we’re showcasing today is coming from a place of love, from a place of peace, from a place of connection, from a place of pure joy, passion + excitement.
disrespectful in this instance means to put it all on the table.
today, show us the ultimate disrespect!
- show us exactly what you’re made of by showing up as exactly who you are you in your core.
- show us how you stand up for yourself + others.
- show us how you can set boundaries for yourself + how you take time to take care of yourself.
- show us what it looks like to learn while living.
- show us what growth mindset + altered actions look like.
- show us what it looks like to apologize.
- show us what it looks like to forgive yourself + to forgive others.
- show us what it looks like to live your life on your own terms.
be as disrespectful as necessary, fam!
over the course of the week, keep that disrespectful energy at an all time high + encourage others to do the same.
you’ve downplayed your capabilities for long enough, now.
shine your light.
one of my favorite encourage cards to pull from our dear dope chick encouragement card deck is “keep shining, sis. who cares if you’re bright? let’em buy their own shades”.
everyone is entitled to their opinion.
doesn’t mean you have to agree with it.
whether you’re acting in the most humble way or not, some people can + will find fault in what you’re doing + how you’re doing it.
with that being said, do you, boo.
worrying about how others feel or may react to what you’re doing in your life isn’t your burden to carry.
let them figure out why they take issue with you being you.
you focus on being you.
continue being kind, courteous, + compassionate.
continue leading with love.
continue being a vessel, walking in your purpose, + acknowledge when others are doing the same.
continue seeing all of you + as a result, you can see others, too.
my final thoughts:
the sun doesn’t apologize for what it does, it fulfills it purpose of shining + others adjust to its output respectively.
the sun ain’t out here pleading with the clouds + trees to move out its way + let allow for its rays to touch everyone all the time. it isn’t begging the night sky to see it as it the star it is + to allow it to be one of the brightest in the sky right next to moon. it isn’t out here worried about whether or not the animals burrowed down under can feel its warmth or whether or not people hate it because of what it’s capable of doing. the sun is simply doing what it does, being what it is, + shining its light.
the only thing disrespectful about you being you is that it’s taken so long to accept that others may or may not get on board with who you are at your core + that’s a them problem.
again, how they want to feel about you + who you actually are can co-exist.
realistically, there are many versions of you floating around out there, it’s up to you to choose which version you want to show up as in this moment.
the real disrespect happening here is the crime you’re committing against yourself by constantly dimming your light for the acceptance of others.
respect all of you, don’t dim your light for anyone.
shine bright + if they tell you you’re too bright, hand them some shades.
respectfully. 😎
