dear dope chick,
welcome + welcome back!
thank you for showing up!
i want to know one thing, though:
are you ready to take action today?
what you’ll need:
for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or have been down since day one —
dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every episode you are challenged, encouraged, + inspired to take one step that aligns with living life on your own terms.
one step today aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.
no force, no obligations!
you are not obligated to take a step today.
i’m not gonna force you.
however, i am encouraging you to take some type of action today!
do something different today.
do something you’ve never done.
do something that you’ve done before + have had great results.
but do something — stay consistent.
you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that today.
let’s get to work!
so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.
have you heard our previous episodes?
not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?
we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.

to do this week:
pausing on purpose!
today’s action is to plan a purposeful pause.
what does that mean?
that means instead of constantly being on the go, instead of always doing, doing, doing, you are purposefully planning a time where you do absolutely nothing.
take a pause.
you are not obligated to do anything during this pause.
you can sit there + look at your fingertips if you want to. 😂
you can daydream into the abyss.
you can do absolutely nothing.
how often do you do that for yourself right now?
can you think of a time or the last time that you have done this?
a blessing in disguise
having nothing to do is a blessing in disguise.
sleeping is one thing. we all do it, it’s essential to life, + we need it to survive.
you know what we also need? rest.
we need that pause.
that pause can be translated to rest. i know a lot of times we think of rest as sleeping, but rest is so much more.
over the course of the week, in that space where you have nothing formally planned consider leaving it blank.
you put forth your best efforts daily.
clearly you are about that action… so, sit still for a while.
reflect on the roles pauses play in your life —
- our favorite songs have significant pauses placed in them to give our ears a chance to appreciate what it heard
- when we speak, we pause to gather our thoughts + to think about what was said before responding.
- hell, this podcast has purposeful pauses strategically placed so that sentences don’t run on forever.
additionally, keep reciting those affirmations!
for 21 days straight we are reciting previously written affirmations.
continue reciting your affirmations this week.
check out the previous episode if you have not to get a jumpstart on this action step.
affirmation cards are here!

my final thoughts:
your day doesn’t have to be jam packed with movement.
being a busy body isn’t a badge of honor.
sit down, pause, + give yourself a chance to catch your breath, to clear your mind, + to rest a while.
what does rest, what does a pause, look like for you?
sometimes my pauses are me literally me sitting down + catching my breath. not focusing on anyone or anything else, just focusing on the task at hand + that is sitting still. i don’t wanna hear nothing, don’t wanna talk to nobody, i just wanna be there.
sometimes that pause looks like standing up after sitting down for so long. maybe i’m typing up something, doing computer work, or just “busy” + i need to pause. so i strategically plan pause marks so that i can get up + move.
sometimes a pause looks like praying in the middle of the day + releasing everything that has come to your mind up to that point. all the worry, all the frustration, all the anixety — you pause, you release that, + you let that go.
sometimes it looks like meditating. this is an instance where you sit down + free your mind to think whatever, to feel whatever, to be whoever you desire.
so what does a pause look like for you?
find your rhythm.
find your balance.
find your peace.
pause on purpose.
