dear dope chick,

welcome + welcome back!

how you livin’ today?

how you feelin’ today?

are you ready, today, to take some action?

what you’ll need:

for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or who have been rockin’ with me since day one —

dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every single episode you are challenged to take one step that aligns with living life on your own terms.

that means you’re taking one step today, however small, large, or however you wanna categorize it, that aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.

from that step on…

from that step another step can be taken, then another + another

the momentum from the accomplishment can propel you into new heights, into a new lifestyle, into a new frontier.

don’t play yourself.

don’t fool yourself into thinking that this podcast will change your life.

no — only you can do that.

only you can decide whether or not you will take the necessary steps today to alter your reality.

while these words may serve as some encouragement, these words are only ideas + thoughts until one decides to put them into action.

the question is: are you ready to take some action today?

you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that for yourself today one step at a time.

let’s get to work!

so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.

have you heard our previous episodes?

not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?

we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.

you can listen to them here.

speaking of steps, let’s talk about today’s action step:

  • this is a suggestion.
  • this is encouragement.
  • this is not a requirement.

i am putting this out here so that you can hear it + be inspired to do something that is pressing on your heart today.

to do this week:

today’s action is to lose the argument.

yep, you heard that correctly, fam —

today, when you feel yourself on the verge of “crushing the ant” + winning an argument, pull back + cease fire.

concede.

decide that it is what it is + let it go.

get to know what it feels like to sit in contentment; to know that you’ve got an answer + that you don’t have to convince others to see it as the end all, be all.

you don’t have to convince others to see it your way.

you have a way + that’s your way.

you don’t have to be “right” all the time.

right + wrong are subjective, so seeing something from a certain perspective doesn’t make it absolute fact or fiction; it makes it as is.

it makes it an opinion; your opinion.

your opinion, like others opinions, can be challenged.

even when speaking facts + truths, understand that those are your facts + truths to uphold + believe.

others are still entitled to have their own set of facts + truths that they find valuable + applicable to their own lives.

over the course of the week, continue giving others space to voice their opinions without condemnation.

respectfully, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, to their own way of thinking + processing, + to their own set of beliefs.

give people the space to be “strong + wrong“, especially when they are convinced that what they are saying is tried + true.

foster a place of understanding with all of whom you encounter today; a common ground that appreciates + encourages free thinking.

we won’t agree with everything everyone says; however, we can acknowledge that we all have choices + how someone chooses to think is a reflection of their headspace in that moment.

it has nothing to do with you + it’s nothing personal, fam.

even when it feels like a personal attack against you, how they choose to believe whatever they believe + how they choose to live their lives is their choice.

(feelings are not facts)

give people the space to voice their own opinions + to have their own opinions about a “thing“.

even when it’s not in alignment with truths + facts of matter, it is still their opinion to have.

let them have it. 👐🏾

my final thoughts:

connection is the ultimate goal

connecting with others requires our impartiality.

understand that accepting where someone is in the moment is not the same as agreeing with their position.

i’m simply impartial to what they have to say.

people can say what they say + it doesn’t sway me in any direction.

i am steadfast in what i believe.

i have my own right to believe what i believe.

in this instance, steadfast doesn’t equate to unmovable.

i am still very flexible in the way that i approach life + i understand i can learn a lot about life through the voice + experience of others.

stedfast, in this instance, is being confident in what i want for myself.

it’s taking a stance + understanding + acknowledging that I can choose different at any time; however, this is what I’m choosing in this moment + I’m okay with that.

it’s not up to you, or anyone else, to convince people of anything

live your life the best way you know how + give others their space to do the same.

it’s not about winning the argument, fam.

the true win is understanding that living life on our own terms is a birthright to us all.

it’s appreciating the cycles of life that make room for all of us + all of our perspectives + allows us the liberty to change course, perspectives, + mindsets when we are ready to embrace change.

free to think differently

we have no always thought the way that we have.

with new information comes new habits, experiences, + actions.

so understand that moment by moment, if you’re open to change + learning, we are giving ourselves the opportunity to learn something different + to implement that difference in our lives if/when it aligns with who are at our core + our overall vision for our lives.
