dear dope chick,
welcome + welcome back!
how you livin’ today?
how you feelin’ today?
are you ready, today, to take some action?
what you’ll need:
for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or who have been rockin’ with me since day one —
dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every single episode you are challenged to take one step that aligns with living life on your own terms.
that means you’re taking one step today, however small, large, or however you wanna categorize it, that aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.
what are you willing to do?
wanting different for yourself + possessing the willingness to do different are two different things.
are you willing to do something different to achieve those results?
are you willing to sacrifice your old life for a new one?
are you willing to go if you have to go by yourself?
are you willing to turn off the noise + move out of your own way?
you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that for yourself today by taking one step at a time.
let’s get to work!
so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.
have you heard our previous episodes?
not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?
we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.
you can listen to them here.
speaking of steps, let’s talk about today’s action step:
- this is a suggestion.
- this is encouragement.
- this is not a requirement.
i am putting this out here so that you can hear it + be inspired to do something that is pressing on your heart today.
to do this week:
who you are now is a culmination of your past choices.
who you will become is depending on the choices you make right now.
who are you, fam?
though you’re still learning, you’ve already got some really useful information you can pull from your lived experiences.
by now you have an inkling of what works for you + what you’d rather avoid in the future.
the lived experiences that you have are full of gems + jewels for your journey.
don’t discard what you’ve been through, instead learn from it, grow from it, + believe that it’s had a hand in transforming you into the dope human you are today.
you’re familiar with the concept that all things are working for your good, yea?
whether you believe it or not, whatever happens in life is happening for you + not to you.
it can be hard to see it that way when we’ve endured trauma in our lives.
it can be difficult to accept the choices we made when things didn’t turn out the way we anticipated they should, or that they would, or that they could.
with that being said —
today’s action is to choose to take full responsibility for your choices, past + present.
you are who you are today because of who you were yesterday.
thank that version of you for showing up like they did,
for getting you through some of your toughest times in your life,
+
for holding you down with some viable choices.
you may not like everything you’ve done in the past + that’s okay, fam.
fortunately, this can be the beginning of a new era for you.
over the course of the week, continue changing the way you choose to experience life.
if you don’t like what you’ve done,
if you aren’t feeling this path that you’re on,
if you want different for your life,
choose, right now, to experience life in a different way.
the circumstances don’t matter.
your current situation doesn’t matter, either.
all of that’s gonna be what it’s gonna be.
how you gonna act about it?
what is the action that you’re taking now?
what changes can you make right now?
right now, you have the power to change your attitude about what you’re currently experiencing.
whether your circumstance or situation is here to stay forever or is as temporary as they come — none of that matters, fam!
what you choose to do doesn’t have to reactionary.
it doesn’t have to be contingent upon what you’re currently facing.
how do you want to feel about what you’re going through?
how do you choose to see where your are now?
is it a foreign concept to believe less of what you see + more of what you know to be true?
is it a foreign concept to walk by faith + not by sight? to have hope?
your reality may not always reflect exactly what you wish to see; however, you have the chance to change your perspective + in turn, 180 your current situation.
your actions can come purely from a space of intention.
you can do what you do because you want to do it, what you do doesn’t have has to be reactionary.
+ whether or not the feelings or actions are reciprocated or regardless of how others choose to react, you come from a space that holds unconditional love.
you don’t have to accept what you see as the end all be all.
accepting life means accepting what has happened already.
living life is determining what you are willing to do now with the information you have.
it’s realizing that what is meant for your demise can be used for your good.
a brick can be used as a weapon. it’s also used a building block.
depending on how you choose to handle the brick will determine its function in your life.
today, you have the opportunity change the way you choose to experience life.
you can blame yourself for choices made in the past,
you can refuse to forgive yourself,
+
you can regret every single decision that you’ve ever made —
doing all that is not the flex you think it is.
come to terms with your choices,
notice that you hating on + bad mouthing who you were won’t change what’s happened,
+
choose to give yourself the grace you deserve.
my final thoughts:
your new era starts now.
walking into a new era in your life can look like releasing past condemnations you’ve held onto about who you were + the decisions you made back then.
today, even if it’s for one split second, see your growth + bask in how dope it feels to walk a new path in life.
grab your journal for this one:
in your journal, write a letter to your past self highlighting one “bad” decision you’ve made, forgive yourself for making it, + speak on how it’s changed your life for the better.
take your time with this entry.
start + stop as much as you need + as always, love yourself through it.
will you choose to see yourself in a different light?
will you choose different for yourself today?
will you choose to honor who you were + how far you’ve come?
as always, the choice is yours.
