dear dope chick,

welcome + welcome back!

how you livin’ today?

how you feelin’ today?

are you ready, today, to take some action?

what you’ll need:

for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or who have been rockin’ with me since day one —

dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every single episode you are challenged to take one step that aligns with living life on your own terms.

that means you’re taking one step today, however small, large, or however you wanna categorize it, that aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.

here for the taking.

what you want in life is right here for the taking.

there is nothing you have to do right now to put you into the position to win in life.

winning is all you can see if you decide that’s what you want to see.

everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of self doubt + your inability to take action.

no one can hold you to what you want to do for yourself.

not me, not ya mama, not your community members, not your friends or family —

this is a decision you must make, you must want, + you must do for yourself.

you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that for yourself today by taking one step at a time.

let’s get to work!

so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.

have you heard our previous episodes?

not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?

we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.

you can listen to them here.

speaking of steps, let’s talk about today’s action step:

  • this is a suggestion.
  • this is encouragement.
  • this is not a requirement.

i am putting this out here so that you can hear it + be inspired to do something that is pressing on your heart today.

to do this week:

picture this:

your nerves are getting worked overtime today! 😵‍💫

it seems as if it’s one thing after the other:

  • after making the perfect cup, you spill your beverage… on yourself
  • someone accidentally knocks over something that belongs to you… + breaks it
  • you’re on time until you can’t find your keys, so now you’re running behind your schedule… + then you find a nail in your tire
  • instead of greeting you with “hello”, the first thing out of someone’s mouth is a request…

+ that all happens before 9 am! 🥴

what’s your initial response to how things are playing out, fam?

are you feeling angry?

are you feeling overwhelmed?

are you feeling indifferent?

are you feeling annoyed + ready to start the day over?

’cause let’s be real:

there isn’t a time where a complaint (or a loud scream) didn’t seem completely appropriate for this scenario 😂

today’s action is to instead of complaining, challenge yourself to remain present + to feel what it feels like to exist in this moment.

complaints are based on past experiences, so invite yourself to the present + you’ll find that you have absolutely nothing to complain about right now!

okay so yea, five minutes ago life was lifin’ + things were happening 🥴, but in this moment right here, right now? oh, you good!

you took some deep breaths.

you’ve found calm again.

you’ve found peace again.

life has officially shifted + in this moment, all is well.

do yourself a solid + think about how you’ll feel reliving those memories + bringing the chaos back into this moment.

you’ve gotten past what is bothering you, so why bring back those feelings by complaining about it?

accept that what’s done is done + complaining about it won’t make it any better.

you bringing it back up won’t change what’s already happened.

what it can do is shift your mood, it can affect the relationships you have with others, + it can how you experience today.

over the course of the week, continue doing your best to not get overwhelmed by the circumstances of the day.

you’re bound to feel some feels today + every day hereafter, so treat your feelings as feedback + adjust accordingly.

after feeling what you feel, you can choose to stay there in those feelings.

this coincides with complaining —

if you want to complain, have at it.

that’s your choice + you can do what you feel is most appropriate for the situation.

you can also choose to come back to the present + feel the calm, the joy, the peace, + the love that this moment brings.

complaining robs you of your present experience.

instead of feeling what this moment is all about, complaining sticks you right back to where your blood pressure rises + your gratitude falls.

you have to decide where you want to reside.

what is it about your past that entices you to stay there for long periods of time?

what does your past give you that you feel your present isn’t offering you right now?

if you are unable to find what you’re looking for in this moment, it may be because you haven’t decided to stick around + peep the scene of right now.

my final thoughts:

persisting beyond your current circumstances is a challenge, fam —

there isn’t a guarantee that it will be easy to shift gears + come back to the present; however, there is life that transcends beyond even the most shittiest moments in your life.

gratitude is where life on your own terms truly begins.

seeing beyond what you lack is a skill, an essential life skill, that helps safeguard your hopes, your dreams, + your aspirations.

gratitude holds the key to the abundance life is offering you right now because it ensures you have everything you need in life first + foremost.

anything you acquire after that is a blessing on top of a blessing on top of a blessing.

don’t allow the distractions to distract you from living life on your own terms today.

don’t allow your feelings to dictate your mood, to determine your next more, or to keep you feeling stagnant + stuck in the cycle of complaining.

instead, choose to experience a full + rich life by opening up the floodgates of gratitude + living in the presence of today.
