dear dope chick,

welcome + welcome back!

how you livin’ today?

how you feelin’ today?

are you ready, today, to take some action?

what you’ll need:

for those who are new here, who haven’t been here in quite a while, or who have been rockin’ with me since day one —

dear dope chick™ is an action based podcast so that means that every single episode you are challenged to take one step that aligns with living life on your own terms.

that means you’re taking one step today, however small, large, or however you wanna categorize it, that aligns with the lifestyle that you most desire.

today is a new day, fam.

though today may feel familiar + seem like any other day, today is brand spanking new + the possibilities are endless

today, you can choose different.

today, you can get started.

today, you simply can.

there is no limit to what you can do today, tomorrow, + beyond.

the choice to do + be different lies within you + all it takes is you taking one step in the direction of what you want to experience.

you owe it to yourself to steer your life in the direction that you’ve always wanted to go + you can do that for yourself today by taking action; by taking one step at a time.

let’s get to work!

so, grab a notebook or journal that is dedicated to this podcast so that you can participate in the activities and exercises discussed; to see how much you have grown over the course of your life.

have you heard our previous episodes?

not yet ready do the activities presented in this episode?

we have others that may interest you so if you aren’t familiar or haven’t heard our previous episodes, take a listen so that you can make an informed choice today.

you can listen to them here.

speaking of steps, let’s talk about today’s action step:

  • this is a suggestion.
  • this is encouragement.
  • this is not a requirement.

i am putting this out here so that you can hear it + be inspired to do something that is pressing on your heart today.

to do this week:

not everyone will like what you think, say, or do.

likewise, you will not like what everyone thinks, says, or does.

today’s action is to agree to disagree.

accept that everyone has their own way of thinking + own way of doing, + give other’s space to maintain their own perspectives.

you gain absolutely nothing arguing a point into the ground while attempting to convince someone to believe what you believe or to prove that you’re right.

right for what?

what do you gain by being right?

validation? brownie points? a prize?

quiet as kept, we all live in some state of delusion.

though we may believe we are walking in truth + with integrity, to someone else we are living in a state of delulu because conceptually, their mind cannot fathom thinking the way we think or living the way we live.

we do this to people, too.

we have a hard time conceptualizing how other people choose to live when that is something that doesn’t align with us.

does that it’s right? does that mean it’s wrong?

it means nothing. it has no meaning. there is no right or wrong.

if you need a meaning, it means that that person is living their life + that means we have the opportunity to do the same.

there is no assigned meaning to the actions that other people do until a meaning is assigned to it.

so understand that we all, to someone out there, are living in a state of delusion.

when we can accept that not everyone will understand the vision or understand the calling over our lives, until we can accept that, we are going to have a hard time accepting people where they are + for who they are.

over the course of the week, continue providing space for others to live in their state of delusion.

it’s our rights, as individuals, to freely think + to live life on our own terms.

everyone has this right, fam. it’s a God given right.

when we start dictating how other people choose to live, then we are not giving them or ourselves the space to figure out our own lives.

you lose absolutely nothing by giving others the opportunity to come up with their own conclusions.

you gain so much by giving people space to walk in their truth, though — you gain:

  • peace
  • an appreciation of the way people think
  • an admiration of how fascinating people are
  • clarity + understanding
  • an opportunity to learn something new
  • an opportunity to love someone unconditionally

while you don’t owe anyone anything, you do have a certain level of responsibility when it comes to interacting with + learning from others.

your responsibility lies in living in your truth + it’s on you to invite others into your world with kindness, compassion, care, + love.

you ain’t gonna wanna hear this but they don’t have to reciprocate what you give to them, so if you’re being kind because you expect kindness, or if you’re being open because you expect that openness then you’re setting yourself up for disaster.

release the expectations of it all + do what you do because you want to do it.

i say this over + over again:

the circumstances don’t matter

meaning what others choose to do doesn’t have to effect how you choose to move in this world.

if you want to be open + understanding, be that.

if you want to love someone unconditionally, do that.

if you want to show support, even when you don’t necessarily agree with the choices of another, support them.

their truths have absolutely nothing to do with you + everything to do with how they view the world.

now, how they view the world may be shaped by you so use your influence wisely by living your life with integrity + showing up as the person you want to be.

regardless of the eyes that are on you, who you do you want to show up as? what state of delusion do you want to walk in today? do that/

my final thoughts:

grab your journal (yes, we use journals for this podcast, but if you do not have one, feel free to use whatever you have in this moment) —

grab your journal + write down an answer to the following question:

in what ways can you still show up for a person while honoring yourself when your views + perspectives are totally misaligned?

there is a true value in honoring differing perspectives, in learning from others, in accepting others fully + completely, + in hearing others with our hearts rather than with our logic.

we won’t fully understand every thing we are presented with today + that’s okay.

but one thing we can understand is how important it is to feel seen + heard, to be supported + loved unconditionally, to connect with others, to be appreciated + to be ourselves fully + completely while extending that same grace + space to others.
