will you surrender your desires to now?

dear dope chick:

there’s done, there’s to be determined, + then there’s now.

your past? forget about it.

your future? who knows what it holds.

so, what’s up with now, fam?

what’s so trivial about being here that you want to escape to what’s already happened + what is yet to occur?

ground yourself in the moment.

take a cue from Xscape + kick off your shoes + relax your feet (literally)!

if you have access to a grassy area or dirt pad, take your talents there. if not, find an area on the floor that you trust 😂 to stand barefooted + take a stand.

take a deep breath, close your eyes, + stand tall.

be in the moment + follow your body’s cues —

stand still or sway from side to side — whatever your body calls for in the moment, do that.

not ready to bare your feet? use your palms instead.

you can put your hands in the dirt, in the grass, or even in the water (you can do this with your feet, too).

when using water, switch between warm and cold.

notice how it feels on you skin. notice how your body reacts to it — does the cold make your heart race? does that warmth make your cheeks flush? notice the now.

speak it, live it —

while you are grounding yourself, speak the following:

i accept the past as history + the future as unknown.

i release my attachments to what i think i need + to what i believe i should, could, or would be doing right now.

the past? done. the future? unknown.

all that i truly have is this moment right now + in it, i surrender my desires. life unfolds in its divine timing. i am both patient + ready.

release your attachments. surrender your desires.

i know it’s a big ask for anyone who is deeply connected with the past +/or wants to latch on prematurely to the future, however it’s necessary to remain present + to live life now.

what you can change is now.

come to terms with the following:

in this moment, you are safe.

in this moment, you have options.

in this moment, you can flex your choices.

this moment is all that you have + it’s in this moment where you can commit to the change you want to see.

what you want to see if happening for you now.

be patient. stay ready. you’ve got this.

be you, be dope!
