don’t even want to be that person anymore

when your water bottle is empty + you want more water, do you go to the gas station + refill your bottle with gasoline?

so why is it that when you feel down + unfulfilled, you go back to old behaviors that no longer serve you?

comfort eating.

phoning an ex.

endless scrolling.

physical +/or emotional entanglements.

smoking +/or drinking.

ragging on others.

yelling to prove a point.

binge watching tv.

whatever the vice may be, ask yourself:

why am i wanting to find fulfillment in a space that i’ve purposefully ditched because of how unfulfilled it truly makes me feel?

the reality is we don’t want to live our old lives.

hell, we don’t even want to be that person anymore.

matter of fact, we’re appalled with our behavior after engaging in those activities because we know better.

however, the dopamine high we get from participating in these types of activities gives us that instant gratification.

your lifestyle change will take effort, fam.

it will take mental fortitude to choose different in situations when we’ve relied so heavily on auto-pilot.

it will take intention + focus to identify our needs + to move in a way that aligns with who we are at our core.

who we say we are won’t mean a damn thing when we aren’t using our decision making skills to elevate + celebrate our best selves.

you are better than the experience you are defaulting to + you deserve better from yourself.

give yourself your best.

there will be questionable decisions that you make today.

remind yourself that perfection isn’t the goal, awareness is.

disappointment finds us when we pursue things that leave us unfulfilled, such as engaging in our old behaviors.

exercise mindfulness + use the feedback you gain from disappointment to go after what you truly want in life.

be you, be dope!
