the smartest person in the room

you’ve worked very hard to form your opinion about life, fam.

whether through research, personal anecdotes, or your own experiences, you’ve thought long + hard about your beliefs, your morals, + your overall values in life.

likewise, others have formed an opinion about life.

whether you believe it to be well informed or not, their opinion is in fact their opinion.

today, consider the work that goes into forming option + respect the journey that we’ve all taken to get to that opinion.

it may vastly differ from yours, it may even make your head hurt trying to process “why” or “how” they came to that conclusion, + still, no matter how limited their information may be on the topic, it is still their opinion to have + hold.

alienating yourself by thinking you’re the smartest person in the room only continues to widen the gap of misunderstanding.

instead of treating their opinion as ignorance + immaturity, approach it with empathy + understanding.

we’ve all been at ‘square one’ in life, fam.

+ as long as we are living + learning, we can still find ourselves at ‘square one’ over + over again.

open your mind, listen to what others have to say without judgement, + accept their opinion as something they are entitled to have.

listening + learning is the connection that bridges two perspectives + brings us closer together in the long run.

be you, be dope!
