how many times have you said,
“i’d love an opportunity to…”
only to get the opportunity + you do absolutely nothing?
it’s excuse after excuse —
“where i am in my life right now, it’s too much to think about + try to do”
“it’s too soon after this (insert tragic/energy draining thing) happened, i have to wait”
“it’s more work than i thought. i’ll chill for now until i’m ready”
when the opportunity is a distant thought, we are all for it.
however, when the opportunity is within reach, within our grasp, we begin to second guess the time commitment, our capacity to work, + ourselves.
today, sit in the discomfort of saying “yes” to the experience you desire.
not only is this is new territory, you are about to embark on a task you’ve never done before, at least not in this way, shape, or form.
you have your doubts, sure, but guess what else you already have?
provisions. you think you’re really out here raw doggin’ life without having all that you need at your fingertips? c’mon nah, fam!
there isn’t a guarantee that when you run away this time you’ll get this opportunity again.
there is also no guarantee that if you take on the opportunity that you’ll get the desired results you were hoping to receive.
what is guaranteed is that this opportunity will shape you, mold you, stretch you, grow you, + you’ll learn so much about yourself, about community, + about life in general after you take on this task.
don’t be afraid of putting in the effort, of doing your best + meeting the challenge with fear, with worry, but also with determination + honor.
regret happens when we discourage ourselves from reaching our fullest potential; when we encourage mediocrity in our lives.
do life full out, with purpose on purpose + with patience + passion.
the opportunity is here because you are qualified.
take a chance on yourself, fam.
be you, be dope!
