when you don’t have common sense, money, or time

instead of filling your day with excuses + unrealistic expectations,

fill your day with passion + optimism.

we love to talk about what we personally + as a collective don’t have —

we don’t have common sense,

we don’t have book smarts,

we don’t have community,

we don’t have a conscious collective,

we don’t have deep, meaningful relationships,

we don’t have money, fame, or wealth,

we don’t have time,

+

we especially don’t have the patience.

but hear me out, fam: what we have are excuses + unrealistic expectations.

our excuses assist in excluding us from being a solution + we are further contributing to the problem by allowing them to rule lives.

further, when we expect people to act like us or place expectations on ourselves that are not conducive to an environment that encourages growth + grace,

we provide even more of a disconnect between where we are now to where we want to be personally + as a collective.

today, focus on what you have rather than what you feel you are lacking.

streamline your energies toward using what you’ve got available to you + you’ll see more + more possibilities open to you.

the way you think in life, the way you live your life, + the way you view your life all shape + mold your experiences with life + with others who are in your life.

so how can it be that you’ll have positive experiences when you’re solely focused on where life is seemingly deficient?

surely there are skills, knowledge, + opportunities available to you that you can use right now to enhance your life + the lives of those around you.

more reframe + less shame, fam —

you do have common sense + you are quite capable of figuring things out,

you are supported + loved,

you live in abundance — it surrounds you + engulfs you,

+ you have time so take your time building, creating, + establishing a life that you can confidently, passionately, intentionally, live on your own terms.

be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:

you have the power to change the course of your life. in what ways did you use your power of choice to reframe your thoughts on something you’ve previously denoted as negative? in what ways has your life benefited from the power of positive perception?
