did you know you are a teacher?
you are student of life, constantly learning + applying new knowledge, skills, + perspectives.
at the same time, you’re doing a lot of teaching.
every single day you’re teaching others:
how you treat yourself + how you want to be treated by them
your values + your beliefs
how you overcome challenges
how you manage your time + how you expend your energy
+ the list goes on + on + on!
people learn a lot from you, sis, + your actions do most of the teaching.
so what are you teaching others about life? about themselves? about yourself?
is what you want them to learn from you in alignment with your everyday actions?
if there’s one thing my kids have taught me it is that someone is always watching you, learning from you, + potentially implementing what they’ve learned from you into their lifestyle.
‘do as i say + not as i do’ is cool rhetoric in theory, but it’s something about seeing how it’s done that makes it easier to believe, easier to mimic.
class is in session.
this whole teaching gig sounds like a huge responsibility that requires tons of accountability + you’re right:
being dope requires both accountability from + responsibility for oneself.
push past the fear of fuckin’ up, ’cause you will fuck up from time to time.
instead, show us how you get past the fear + how you course correct when you make a misstep.
this isn’t an invitation to embrace perfection,
it’s a memo to bring awareness to your level of influence.
keep learning, keep teaching, + keep living!
the most important lesson you can impart on us is how to live life on your own terms — show us how you do that!
be you, be dope!
