when’s the last time you savored a glass of water?
or strolled through a garden?
or sat down for a while without a device (tv, phone, ipod, etc.) to think, to read, or to complete a puzzle?
or wrote out a list of what you’re grateful for?
or hand-washed your car?
or fully brainstormed that idea?
all of these acts require you to commit to this one thing, even if for a few minutes:
you’ve gotta slow down.
elevation requires stillness.
it sounds almost oxymoronic to say since elevation is moving upward.
but that stillness is essential, fam.
that stillness quiets us enough to listen to + move in the direction of our hearts.
it inspires + energizes us to move in an intentional + purposeful way.
when you’re still, you feel more deeply —
the small + large sensations of your body (i.e. feel your heart beat/pulse, feel how your body works to stay balanced on two feet, feel how your head sags forward when you stand, etc.)
how liquids feel after swallowing as they travel throughout your body (hot vs. cold liquids offer different sensations — try it!)
what feelings are heightened when you slow down (i.e. rested, anxiousness, sadness, recharged, etc.)
those feelings then lead to questions, conversations, + changes within oneself —
is it my posture that is causing my head to hang forward when i stand? maybe i can adjust … ahhh, there.
why do i feel so anxious about resting? what needs my attention right now that is more important than my rest? where does this judgement of myself while relaxing stem from? i’ll set the timer + commit to fully relaxing during this set time. no distractions!
whoa, my pee is super yellow — do i need more water? wait, have i drank any water today? okay, lemme get on that…
yes, stillness leads to self-reflection + self-reflection leads to purposeful action!
by tuning into your body, you figure out what you need + in turn, can take much better care of yourself.
today, be.
don’t force, don’t rush, don’t glorify busyness.
slow down, relax, + enjoy the moment.
be you, be dope!
