as Destiny’s Child says in their hit song, “free” —
“ain’t no feelin’ like being free!
when your mind’s made up + your heart is in the right place, yea.”
but what is freedom when you don’t practice what is necessary to maintain it?
what does it mean to have “free will” when you don’t use it, let alone know how to identify it in your life?
today, realize the freedoms you have in life + use them to create the lived experience that you most desire.
in other words: live life on your own terms, fam.
first, you must take responsibility for your own life.
gone are the days when you blame others for your shortcomings, mishandlings, + missteps.
you have choices,
you can make decisions (yes, even when they are hard decisions to make),
+
what you choose to tolerate isn’t anyone else’s choice but your own.
next, you must take intentional action.
this is where discipline comes into play, fam.
without a disciplined mind + focused efforts, what you do is arbitrary + may or may not align with the lifestyle you most desire to live + experience.
moving your body is difficult when you haven’t done it in a long time, so is reading long form text, observing + playing in nature, eating whole + nutritionally packed foods, actively listening to others when they speak, considering the impact you have on others when you make decisions — the list goes on + on.
thankfully, difficult doesn’t mean impossible.
we lose our freedoms when we misuse them, when we take them for granted, + when we simply don’t care enough to exercise our God given rights.
to be free is to be an active + willing participant in life.
care about what is going on in your world — shit, care about what is going on in the world as a whole, too.
minimum effort is required of you today + that’s to at least give a damn about the freedoms you’ve been afforded.
free choice cannot be free choice until you decide that freedom is important to you + you are using it responsibly, following through with discipline + intentional action, showing reverence + never taking it for granted.
ain’t no feelin’ like being free, fam.
exercise your freewill today by aligning your actions with your heart’s intentions, even when it presents itself difficult to do.
be you, be dope!
