freedom as its defined by you

what does freedom mean to you, fam?

is it having more time?

is it not having to face challenges?

is it skating through life without a care in the world?

when you don’t care about anything, you aren’t truly living.

when you don’t have difficulties, you aren’t experiencing life to its fullest potential.

when you have more time to do one thing, the time isn’t there to do that other thing.

today, define freedom.

freedom isn’t an escape from all your trials + tribulations;

it isn’t absolving yourself from responsibility or living in apathy.

freedom is your ability to choose where you’ll put your energy + focus, + to move with intention + ease.

you don’t have to feel rushed,

you don’t have to feel forced,

+

you don’t have to feel like you have to live up to someone’s standards because you remember this one thing:

you always have a choice.

if you’re constantly running away from difficult conversations,

dismissing reality because your feelings don’t align,

or believing everything anyone says about you — are you truly free?

discover true freedom by uncovering who you are at your core,

honoring what you value even when no one else supports you,

knowing what you’re willing to sacrifice,

+

finding contentment in being with or without familiarity.

life won’t be without its challenging times.

can you make it through life regardless of what is given/not given to you?

can you hold true to your values + integrity even when you are asked or expected to do otherwise?

can you show up as you unapologetically while allowing others to do the same?

only you can answer that.

be you, be dope!
