I just want to share with you that this email was EVERYTHING that I needed this morning!!!
I’m in my final year of a doctoral program and was supposed to take my comprehensive exams today and tomorrow which must be passed before I can complete my research study, write my dissertation and do my defense. In order to graduate in December of this year, I needed to pass all 4 of them this weekend. I’m a single mom of 5, a full time educator and a research assistant at my university and with everything going in my life I was completely unprepared to test.
Last night, completely overwhelmed, filled with anxiety and in tears, I made the decision not to sit for the exams today or tomorrow. As a result, I won’t be a Dr. this year and I just have to be ok with that. But I was feeling like I failed myself. I got this email this morning and it really put things in perspective for me from a POV that I needed!

I recently competed in my first powerlifting competition and all through my training I used your words, I said them every time I approached the barbell, I wrote them in my training journal and this past weekend with the word Assertive, I won the gold in my division and qualified for the National competition.
