was that shit easy?

hey, get up real quick… i’m tryna see something. 👀

stand evenly on both of your feet (about hip width apart) + plant your feet firmly on the ground.

extend your neck + crown of your head upward toward the sky,

drop your shoulders (don’t allow them to crowd your ear space),

engage your core,

+ have your arms + hands relax by your sides.

release your breath, fam —

breathe through these adjustments.

in keeping this stance for a few breaths,

feel the strength in it.

notice what you see at this elevated eye level.

now relax + let go of it all.

shake it out.

be real — was that shit easy?

outwardly, you appear to be confidently standing tall, standing still, + perfectly aligned.

inside is where the real work is taking place!

shit, maybe it’s only me, but the first time i did this i was asking myself so many questions:

am i doing this shit right?
wait, lemme adjust my shoulders again.
whoops, now i’m doing too much with my fingers.
fuck, my core — keep it engaged!
whew, i didn’t know my neck could stretch this long.
is my weight evenly distributed in both feet? are all my toes engaged?

the self-awareness was sky high!

as time went on, my body shifted without my questions. it knew where to go, what to do, + my intentions were much clearer on how to make that happen.

to keep your body aligned in this position:

it takes concentration.
it takes intentionality.
it takes paying attention to detail.
it takes balance.
it takes action.

this is what you’re doing every single day, sis: aligning yourself with your vision for your life + living life how you see fit.

that shit sounds easy… it is not.

you make it look easy… i, like you, know it is not.

+ with practice, you’ll be doing more than standing in this pose — you’ll move with purposeful poise + conscious confidence.

breathe through it all.

the minute adjustments you’re making in every moment matter.

you’re no longer showing up in any old way,

you’re aiming for alignment.

remember the vision, keep making adjustments, + remember to breathe.

you can are doing this.

be you, be dope!
