see, we like to quantify what we’re doing + compare how it may stack up against what everyone else is doing —
- we quantify how much we do in a day + use that information to examine, compare, + socially accept how productive we are
- we quantify how small or big, high risk or low risk are the steps we’ve taken in life
- we quantify how long we’ve been doing a certain activity to gage the level of expertise we have over someone else
- we quantify the amount of praise we get from taking a certain action to validate whether or not we’re on the right path
+ yet none of that matters in the grand scheme of it all.
the question is: are you moving with intention + awareness?
why are you doing what you’re doing, fam?
today, don’t worry about how many things you cross off your to-do list.
instead, with each action you take today that celebrates elevation, expansion, + growth, focus on doing your best.
it means nothing to fill your day with tasks + chores when it means absolutely nothing to you.
so, why not fill your moments with more of what you do like?
you don’t have to do shit for the sake of saying you did it.
you can read 100 books to say you read 100 books, but if you didn’t enjoy the process not one bit, why torture yourself that way?
what was it all for?
live the life you most desire + do it on your own terms.
sure, people will encourage you to take the same steps they’ve taken to get to where they are now — it’s the path in which they are most familiar + have gained the most experience.
you may even be inspired to take their exact route because you think that’s the only way.
but there is another way to live a full + rich life, fam.
take your time today to explore your why.
if you find that your why isn’t coming from a sacred place, you have the right to choose a different path that excites your spirit + soothes your soul.
be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:
why are you doing what you’re doing?
if you don’t like what you’ve been doing, why do you continue doing it? if letting go isn’t an option, what are some ways you can make it more enjoyable for you?
