when you have a feelin’ something just ain’t right, or when your spirit feels unsettled + uneasy, simply do this:
acknowledge that feeling.
that’s where you start, fam.
your initial feelings aren’t to be dismissed + denied, they are to be acknowledged + accepted.
feelings relay messages.
you find out so much about yourself when you listen to your initial feelings.
your feelings have saved you many times over, fam.
think about a time when you listened to your gut, embraced your feelings, + ended up walking away from an unsafe situation.
admittedly, there are also times when you’ve felt something off only to discover that the something off was your own discomfort.
the situation was safe + the uneasy feeling you were feeling was mainly due to you feeling uncomfortable vs. being in immediate danger.
when listening to your feelings, one of the best approaches you can take is listening to them without judgement.
acknowledge that they exist, that in that moment they are very real to you, + validate how you’re feeling right then + there.
it’s okay to acknowledge the discomfort you feel.
don’t dismiss yourself with “i’m crazy” or “it’s all in my head” talk.
also, don’t discredit what you’re feeling because others don’t share your same sentiments.
simply listen to yourself, accept that these feelings are present, + decide which ways you’d like to move forward + what feelings you’d like to take with you.
feelings are not facts, fam.
they aren’t right or wrong, either —
they are what they are
+
that’s a form of communication.
assigning our feelings to a certain situation doesn’t turn our feelings into facts + law;
however, we can accept that our feelings came about for a reason + from those feelings, extract what action we will take next.
today, acknowledge + accept your feelings.
listen to what your mind + body are telling you to better understand the work you must do to live a full + rich life, one that isn’t ruled by your feelings rather it uses your feelings to help you better navigate challenging + uncomfortable situations.
be you, be dope!
