having intense focus on what you’re doing all the time is taxing on your brain + body.
constantly figuring out “what comes next” leaves little room for whimsy, creativity, + flexibility.
fam, don’t burden yourself with planning your life down to the “t” —
today, find comfort in the idea of not knowing what comes next.
have a routine + know what it is you want to do in that block of time while also taking time to enjoy life’s pleasantries.
for example, concentrate on taking actionable steps on a task for an hour today, while still giving yourself 10-15 minutes before + after that allotted block of time to decompress with something that doesn’t require a lot of thinking such as:
- listening to a podcast or your favorite playlist
- taking a walk around the office +/or stretching your body
- going outside + touching grass
- delighting in a cup of your favorite hot beverage
- engaging in a random conversation with a coworker
- cracking open a book you’ve been reading for leisure
- enjoying the sounds of rain pitter pattering on the rooftops
- sending off a text to your group chat for a quick kiki
- sitting still + doing absolutely nothing
your brain doesn’t need to be turned on 24/7, fam.
it isn’t designed to be engaged at all times, hence why we rest, we meditate, + we disengage from focused action to simply take in our surroundings + take a much needed breath.
we all need time to decompress + do nothing!
don’t make time — take time to turn off your brain + live in the moment.
be you, be dope!
