a mental break can look like this

besides providing mindless entertainment, tell me, fam:

what is doom scrolling doing for you?

granted, at times we can all use a mental break.

the issue is the dopamine rush that comes with endless scrolling that keeps you attached to the screen + stuck in a cycle.

today, when you find yourself searching for something to do, do these instead of reaching for your phone:

  • breathe deeply
  • stretch (especially your arms, legs, + neck)
  • go for a walk
  • drink a glass of water (warm or room temperature preferably)
  • keep a book close to read a few pages
  • doodle in a journal
  • have your favorite song cued up + ready to play
  • check on + care for a plant
  • go outside for some fresh air
  • say a prayer +/or meditate for a few minutes
  • have a dance break

break the habit of reaching for your phone or for electronics in general.

become intentional about what you consume + how much you are consuming it.

safeguard your mind from troublesome thoughts, senseless acts, + overt/unsolicited opinions by detaching yourself from its source.

do you know + are in touch with yourself as much as you are in touch with the gossip sites, latest celebrity news, or the political unrest that’s happening around you?

is it important you watch the latest skit comedy reels or those makeup tutorials right now?

is diagnosing your relationship as narcissistic + reading/watching/consuming everything related to narcissism what your mind needs to focus on in this moment?

your brain needs a break from all the shit that keeps you looped into an endless cycle of consumption, fam.

breathe + keep your focus there — on your breath, + feel how refreshing life is when you simply breathe.

be you, be dope!
