centering your identity around this is frightening

get over it, *|FNAME|*.

the hardships are hard,

the difficulties are difficult,

+

the challenges are challenging,

yes — this is true.

but what’s more concerning than that is that you are centering your identity around what brings you the most adversity.

you are creating a version of you that exists only because the problems you are facing exists + this version isn’t looking for a solution.

no, this version of you likes the spotlight of tragedy, loves to share that war story as “because this happened to me, this is who i am”, + thrives in victimhood.

the trauma you’ve experienced doesn’t have to be who you are now.

two things can be true:

we are shaped + molded by our experiences

+

we can rise above our hardships + choose to experience other things, too.

today, be brave enough to rewrite your story.

you’ve been living that same tired, unhappy narrative for far too long now.

you don’t have to suffer another moment if you choose not to suffer.

you can write a new chapter, initiate a new beginning, + adopt a new lease on life; life on your own terms.

yes, life can present itself as hard, but you know what’s even harder on you, fam?

the toil of willingly choosing to suffer + what does to your mind, body, + spirit.

allow yourself to experience today with gratitude, with enthusiasm, + with a renewed sense of self.

you are exactly who you think you are right now —

the person who has risen above every challenge placed in their path.

keep climbing, fam!

be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:

name a cooked food you hate. why do you hate this food? if it’s due to preparation, what other ways have you tried eating it? now, name one thing you like about that particular food. in what ways does this food you don’t like bring joy to your life?
