life is a song + dance —
you’ve gotta flow with the rhythm + it looks best when you stay on beat.
see that’s the thing: it looks best when you know how to dance + sing with the beat.
but when the song is a new song you’ve never heard before, there is a slight learning curve that one must journey on to learn the words + find that beat again.
today, sing + dance like no one is watching.
perform with the beat, off the beat, kinda with the beat — simply let loose + do your thang!
you can dance how you choose to dance + feel good about your performance.
you can give your best + still have fun with it.
you can hoot + holler at the top of your lungs while learning the song + still eventually learn the words.
you can dip it low + bring it slow, + still catch the beat somewhere in between your slow wine + your speedy gyrate.
life, like singing + dancing, is filled with fun moments, crying (especially on those heartfelt lyrics), movement, deep feels, praise + worship, + everything in between.
don’t talk yourself out of a chance to learn something new because you think someone is gonna clown you for wanting to learn or for not knowing the latest song + dance, the latest way of life…
show up, sing your song, + dance to the beat of your own drum.
the applause may or may not come from others + that’s okay.
keep practicing your best moves, belting out your best vocals, + not taking life so seriously that you forget how to flow with your natural rhythm.
don’t forget to be you.
be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:
do you get embarrassed when you are learning a new dance or song?
on a scale of 1-10, how comfortable are you performing in front of a crowd?
on a scale of 1-10, how comfortable are you performing in your mirror?
the world is your mirror, a reflection of your state of mind — does that change how you feel about performing in front of others knowing that they are merely your reflection? why or why not?
