get away from it all

what do you do when you feel uninspired?

the first answer that comes to mind for me is to change my scenery.

sometimes it’s far too noisy where i am.

in that moment, my brain can’t process through all of the noise so i’ve got to remove myself + find solace in quiet.

silence gives me a chance to clear my headspace + start fresh.

but then sometimes it’s too damn quiet!

so i crave noise —

some dope music,
an audiobook,
a podcast,
my family’s voices (kids have the best laughs).

the lyrics to the song,
the words in a book,
the conversations heard on podcasts
+ the time spend engaging with my family have all played an instrumental role in my inspiration.

there are times when nature takes a front row seat in inspiring me.

the sounds of birds singing their melodic songs + the sound of rain rhythmically falling,

feeling the warmth of the sun on my face or a light, cool breeze caressing my skin,

the light scent that comes from the flowers + the smell of freshly cut grass —

i’m getting inspired just thinkin’ about it!

then, there are times when i need to get away from it all + peace out! ✌🏾

the energetic flow of a big city,
the calmness of country living,
the roaring sound of the beach,
the peace + calm of the desert —

all of these places have served as a conduit for inspiration in my life.

for me, a change of scenery encourages creativity to flow through me in a way that promotes renewal, recharge, + readiness.

changing scenery reiterates that you never have to lose sight of the goal while altering your focus + that zoning out is every bit as helpful as zeroing in.

they both serve a purpose in your life; a balance.

given the opportunity, provide yourself with the space to fully exist in these areas.

you don’t have to go to a new or foreign city to jumpstart inspiration or for a change of scenery —

walk your city’s downtown,
drive around + patronize a different part of town,
pick up a book in a topic you’ve never explored,

the possibilities to switch up your environment are endless!

expand your way of thinking + how you approach life.

notice the limitations you set on yourself + challenge them.

you deserve to experience life in its fullness,

you deserve to be inspired by it,

+ you damn sure deserve to do it on your own terms.

be you, be dope!
