finding the balance in being a part of this world while also maintaining a level of individuality can present itself challenging in many ways.
however, i know if anyone can pull it off it’s you.
being yourself when society pushes conformity takes skill.
it takes a level of clarity, of grace, of understanding, + of compassion to be who you know you are deep down in your core while simultaneously forgiving yourself + others for showing up as someone who they can barely recognize at times.
today, allow yourself to explore the different parts of you.
there are sides of yourself that you haven’t seen yet or in a long time, sides that you are unwilling to explore because someone in your life has deemed them unacceptable or less than.
being told “you’re the best” only when you carry out certain actions or behaviors can lead one to believe that it’s unacceptable to showcase other parts of themselves in its totality.
receiving praise only when you do as what someone says, follow their rules, or conform to how they believe you should act only amplifies perceived right + wrong.
ditch labeling your actions, step outside of the limitations these labels lend to life, + show up as the person you resonate with on a more personal level.
everyone won’t like how assertive you are now or how you don’t mind speaking up for yourself + others in times when a simple word such as “stop” or “no” can change the course of your life.
everyone won’t enjoy this new found you where you don’t allow drama to fester,
where you find a way regardless of your circumstances,
where you lead with “thank you“, “i love you“, or “i understand“,
or
where you’re slow to anger + quick to move on + forgive.
today, show up like you’ve never shown up for yourself before, be who you are in the most unapologetic way, + give yourself grace as you discover, uncover, + rediscover what makes you, you.
it is acceptable to be yourself, fam.
show up + show out.
be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:
recall a time when you were comfortable being who you were + then you allowed someone’s opinion of that part of you cause you to hide it from the world.
what did they say to make you suppress that side of you?
do you still believe that to be true?
are you willing to explore that side of you again? if so, what can you do today to reopen that portion of you/reignite that passion?
