it’s easy to be critical of…

i had the pleasure of watching a not-so-good movie this weekend.

no, i’m not being funny when i said i had the pleasure…

though it wasn’t my cup of tea particularly, i can acknowledge:

it took some guts for those actors to get in front of the camera
it’s not easy writing a story board + making it really flow
directing is hard work
+ everyone has to start somewhere

think back to the first time you attempted something new — was it your best work, fam?

well, answering for myself —  yes, yes it was. it was the best i could do in that moment.

over time, with practice, acquiring new skills + knowledge, i became better at my craft — you, too!

we honed our skills.
we gained experience.
we didn’t stop, we continued to build.

i can’t say whether those actors + the production team are still working in that same capacity, what i can say is they have some more than most people —

they started.

it’s easy to be critical of art, especially when you’re on the other side of the work.

we consume the art, but what about the blood, sweat, + tears that went into it? is that not to be acknowledged, too?

see the bigger picture.

the outcome is the sum of all of the experiences that took place to get to a point + frankly, we don’t + won’t always know what someone has gone through to get to where they are.

they won’t see our challenges, either.

but we all can say one thing:

we started + we are doing our best.

be you, be dope!
