do you have to be the best to ever do it to get it done, fam?
in order for you to participate or complete a task, do you have to hold the number one title?
sometimes we can carry the attitude of, “what’s the point of doing something if you’re not the best to do it?“
+ sometimes, that attitude, can be the root of the conflict we feel in our hearts to finish doing what must be done.
“if i ain’t the best in the game, what’s the point of being here?”
“i’ll leave it to the professionals, then”
“they are way better than i am — i’m gonna stop now”
yea — that same attitude ultimately leads to burnout, competition, imposter syndrome — all that labels that coincide with what society deems as being the best.
today, stop comparing yourself to others, do your best, + understand that your best is all that you can give + it is enough.
even when you’re not the “best to ever do it“, you are doing something life changing, something impactful, something remarkable, + that deserves your recognition, too.
before quitting, before getting angry with yourself for not coming out on top all the time, + before you throw in the towel + give up completely:
is there improvement from when/where you first started?
are you giving your best efforts when you do the task?
are you learning + growing? are you stronger than before you started?
is it making a positive impact in your life + in the lives of those around you?
do you feel good about the work you’re putting out there?
so why give up when you’re not getting all the recognition, when you’re not “#1” when you’re experiencing so much growth?
feel good about what you’re doing by practicing gratitude.
be thankful for how far you’ve come — you’ve done some awesome work.
show gratitude for all of the challenges you’ve overcome, for all of the days + nights you’ve dedicated to completing a task, + for your perseverance, your dedication, + your consistency.
don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.
life isn’t all or nothing, fam.
you have something to give every day of your life — your best.
+ that truly is enough.
be you, be dope!
