the foundation of emotional intelligence

on one hand, you want to avoid all unpleasant feelings from heading your way.

i mean really —

who wants to feel let down?

who wants to feel disappointed?

who wants to feel angry + upset?

on the other hand, without your feelings you’d have a hard time knowing exactly what needs your immediate attention.

since feelings are feedback, consider the possibility that your feelings are asking you to address an underlying issue to restore equanimity.

as much as we may not want to experience certain feelings, what’s life without them?

only hearing the same high note over + over will eventually present itself as annoying.

likewise, only hearing low notes is bound to have us craving more musical variety.

understanding what your feelings are communicating with you is the foundation of emotional intelligence.

today, welcome the emotional freedom of experiencing all of your feelings + honor the shifts that your day brings.

be you, be dope!
