picture this: you’re watching an action movie + there’s a lull in the plot.
this part of the movie is what most would label as boring.
it doesn’t seem like much is going on + you’re ready to see the action, yanno — *Birdman hand rub* what you paid to see!
fast forwarding is an option, but it’s likely you opt to see it through.
you watch even the small parts for fear that you may miss something important to the plot line.
before you know it, your patience pays off!
had you fast forwarded through that dialogue bit, you wouldn’t have a clue what was going on in the most action packed scene.
successful script writers + movie directors universally understand this concept: the lulls serve a purpose.
it’s the build-up for what’s to come; the calm before the storm.
like movies, there is still vital information being shared in the seemingly boring intervals of time in your life.
the urge to fast forward through the stillness or the mundane is tempting, but resist at all costs.
in these moments, you are acquiring vital information —
about yourself,
about your situation,
about your next move,
+ about the people + world around you, too.
take it all in.
receive this change of pace + surrender to it.
in other words: slow yo ass down + be here!
nothing in your life is worthless.
what you are doing right now, no matter how insignificant it may feel, is purposeful.
so enjoy this lull.
rest more.
laugh more.
breathe more.
observe more.
pray more.
meditate more.
there is purpose in the pause, fam.
you don’t have to understand life to enjoy life.
take it all in.
be you, be dope!
