this doesn’t have to be complicated

is there a day or time when you’ve walked past a mirror + didn’t take a look at yourself?

is there a day or time when you’ve walked past a mirror + didn’t take a look at yourself?

whether intentionally or unintentionally, mirrors, windows, + even pools of water get a “who’s that girl?” look from me.

it happens.

what’s even more memorable is my response to the feedback of seeing a hair out of place, noticing anything on my face or in my teeth, or detecting disheveled clothing.

what do i typically do in those cases? likely the same as you.

i make adjustments in accordance with how i want to present myself.

as a collective, we tend to take value in how we present ourselves to others.

what about the inside, though? is there a reflection of that anywhere?

’cause that shit is important, too.

fortunately, there are many ways we can actively see what’s going on with our mindsets + spiritual hygiene, fam.

here are a few ways listed below:

reflecting on how we converse with others — what we say, what we don’t say, how we say it, etc.

identifying how we feel after reading literature in various media + genres

engaging in meditation + rumination

reflecting on how we respond to rest, relaxation, + silence

self-reflecting regularly via journals + questioning

hell, when we find ourselves scrolling + feel inclined to comment, we can also use that as feedback —

this doesn’t have to be complicated.

it does, however, need to happen consistently + intently.

i mean, think about it: how many times have you looked in the mirror today alone?

exactly. keep that same energy, sis.

don’t be afraid of self-examination.

whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, ask yourself questions.

question your responses.

question your motives, your beliefs.

open yourself up to learning through different perspectives + if you feel inclined, change your mind!

take as much interest in the internal as you do in the external.

are your mindset + spiritual hygiene on par with who you are?

be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:

what’s three things you learned about yourself today?

questions to consider asking yourself when engaging in the afore mentioned self-reflective activities:

what feelings or beliefs do these activities stir up inside of me + why do i feel this way?

based on this feedback, do i need to make adjustments in my attitude, my actions, or my belief system?
