what to do when you need a brain break

start listening today, fam.

look — look: it doesn’t have to be complicated or a long meditation session, either.

listen on a small scale.

instead of reaching for your phone when you need a brain break, stand up + stretch.

if you can’t stand up at the time, sit down + do some wrist, neck, + spinal stretches — anything to keep you from picking up that phone.

instead of turning on the car radio, opt for a silent ride.

if you can’t stand the sounds of your own thoughts, commit to five-ten minutes of silence +/or play instrumentals or musical arrangements without voices.

instead of grabbing that coffee or juice first thing in the morning, grab a cup of water.

if you can’t stand the taste of plain water, add fruit, cucumber, or lemon slices to you water to punch up the flavor (herbal tea without the sweetener works, too).

you can’t say you want a different experience without doing something different, fam.

the issue isn’t that you can’t deliver, it’s that you’re not listening to your needs + giving yourself permission to explore solutions to those needs in full.

listen to your mind, body, + spirit: what is it asking for right now?

rest? silence? movement? stretching? loving? a moment to “be”?

listen closely + intently, then move accordingly.

you know what you want + need, + you deserve the best of what life has to offer, so why not give yourself exactly that?

be you, be dope!
