today, challenge what you know + recognize as conventional wisdom + dare to dig deeper.
conventional wisdom is the stereotypes, assumptions, thoughts + ideas that are widely accepted + popular, sometimes stereotypical, a lot of the times assumptions that go unquestioned by the masses.
let the record state: popular doesn’t mean factual.
it was once a popular belief that Black people felt no pain + as asinine as it sounds people believed it, rolled with it, + used that so called “wisdom” to treat Black people medically + beyond (this belief is still ingrained in our society today, but i digress).
be open to challenging every thing that you think you know, fam.
it’s not enough to say you know something as fact when every day of our lives we find out new information that can change the course + quality of our lives.
live in the absolute that we all have more to learn about living + life, about ourselves, + about each other.
it can be wildly uncomfortable venturing into uncharted terrority + taking the time to learn about a topic, person, place, or thing that we think we know all about, but lemme tell you:
today is a day full of possibilities + opportunities you don’t want to miss.
find courage in unlearning,
find curiosity in (re)learning,
+ find out that life is much more than you’ve ever thought.
be you, be dope!

journal prompt(s) for today:
what’s a piece of conventional wisdom you follow without much thoughts?
(i.e. think of something that is popular or widely accepted that you have accepted as truth or haven’t bothered to uncover more information about it).
challenge yourself to dig deeper into that idea today.
what did you find out about this belief? is there more to it than what you initially thought? what did you learn that is different than what you thought?
